It’s yet another time for the Caribbean to reunite and enjoy activities that are full of love and friendship. Come July 13th; all roads will lead to Bermuda where the CUT games will be held. It is the first time the Bermuda Island is hosting the event. It will also be a special day for them as the Bermuda Union of Teachers will be celebrating its 100th anniversary. It is only right that they use the games as the highlight of the celebration.

These games will also mark another significant milestone. In the past, it was only athletic events, but for the first time, swimming will be introduced. At the moment, there are hundreds of young aspiring athletes all over the Caribbean practicing and getting ready for the tournament. So much hype is building up around the games and close to 400 participants are expected.

The Organizers are hopeful about the games. Their main aim as teachers is to give the young generation as many worthwhile experiences as possible. A bulk of the expected athletes will be between the ages of 9 and 15. Even though it is a competition, the organizers are more focused on making them have fun and have an exciting experience.

All the affiliate trade unions of the Caribbean Union of Teachers (CUT) are expected to attend. They include (but not limited to):

  • Barbados
  • Guyana
  • Grenada
  • St. Lucia
  • The British Virgin Islands
  • Guadeloupe
  • Montserrat
  • Dominica
  • Antigua & Barbuda
  • The Cayman Islands

The stage will be set at the National Sports Centre for two days; 13th and 14th. All the organizers are asking for is support. There will be so many young athletes who have the potential to compete on an international level, and sponsors are urged to come forth and help make the event a success.
